Here are this month's key tax, business and finance updates ATO UPDATES New Year Tax Checklist As we head into the new year, now is a good time to review your tax position. Key things to check include: ensuring your income tax withholding is correct, reviewing any HECS/HELP repayment obligations, and confirming your super contributions are on track. BUSINESS Quarterly BAS Reminder Quarter 2 BAS (October to December) is due 28 February 2026 for businesses lodging quarterly. Ensure all GST, PAYG withholding and PAYG instalments are correctly reported. If you use a tax agent, the lodgement due date may be extended — contact us if you need assistance. SUPERANNUATION Concessional Contributions Cap The concessional contributions cap remains at $30,000 for the 2025-26 financial year. This includes employer super guarantee contributions and any salary sacrifice amounts. Exceeding the cap may result in additional tax.
